Monterey - Getting To & From the City

There are numerous modes of transportation that offer instant and convenient access to and from the Monterey Peninsula.

Airports:

Tourists can visit Monterey once they stop at the Monterey Peninsula Airport that offers excellent passenger service from the city with daily flights to Los Angeles International Airport, Las Vegas Airport, Salt Lake City, San Francisco International Airport and other cities too. Further, there is also a provision of an Airbus to travel to and forth to airports in San Jose and San Francisco which is provided from downtown Monterey. Other than that, the airport have link with any of the Monterey four star hotels or Monterey luxury hotels, for helping the tourists to travel from the hotel to the airport.

Public Transportation:

On staying at one of the Monterey four star hotels, tourist can have easy and direct access to and from Monterey to San Jose or San Francisco via Highway 156 which is off State Route 101. State Route 101 and highway 68 even helps to commute from LA to Monterey and vice versa.

The Simoneau Plaza offers transportation throughout the region in the city. The Monterey-Salinas Transit system offers regular daily bus service to the commuters throughout the city. Other than that, many can enjoy the seasonal summer service to Big Sur or even avail to the free MST Trolley service provided to them along the waterfront of the city.

The Greyhound Bus service is also there the travelers in Salinas rather than in Monterey. Moreover, AMTRAK Intercity Rail Passenger Services are available in Salinas through bus which one can take from the Monterey Transit-Plaza in downtown area.
